€3.7 million raised by Warsaw-based HomeDoctor to expand its home-visit & telemedicine services

An Amsterdam and Warsaw-based digital healthcare provider, HomeDoctor, has recently announced a €3.7 million funding round. The Series A funding was led by Cogito Capital Partners, along with the company’s founders.

The company, founded in 2016, is a market leader in Poland where it provides online medical appointments and the delivery of healthcare services to patients’ houses. HomeDoctor is a start-up company operating as a B2C and B2B2C medical services platform. The business provides both online and phone consultations (via the telemedicine channel) along with a home visit appointment booking service. In Poland, HomeDoctor is a large partner for the biggest insurers and medical centres.

The services that HomeDoctor provides are available via a dedicated mobile app and online, both of which connect doctors and patients. The start-up uses geo-location technologies for its home-visits; this ensures that the nearest available doctor is sent to the patient within just one hour. With a combination of over 200 GPs devoted to home-visits, the feature allows HomeDoctor to offer a unique advantage with its competitors and a direct leadership position in Poland.

With over 350 doctors who visit patients all across Poland, the start-up offers GP’s as well as 16 other specialisations. The company has seen unexpected growth due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in relation to teleconsultations. In 2020, their Q3 data shows growth in the volume of home visits.

The start-up has ambitious growth ideas that mainly focus on developing other products such as the B2B and B2B2C models, a telemedicine consultation service (telco/video), extended home visit options, an integrated online pharmacy, and also personalised offerings for many customers.

Using this new investment, HomeDoctor will continue to grow its Polish operations by building its capacity and team to enable further geographic expansion. The start-up also aims to build its strategic partnerships and scale-up its market reach and offerings. With its planned expansion into other European countries and increased telemedicine services, the company will take account of regulatory changes and developments in its growth. Changes to regulations mean that digital healthcare providers can now be part of publicly funded healthcare systems. This means that companies can be highly competitive and increase access to experienced medical experts in European countries.

HomeDoctor’s team comprises of business executives and serial entrepreneurs who have previously built and grown enterprise and customer-based business successfully.

Home Doctor’s mission is to transform the traditional healthcare model challenged by accessibility issues and deliver healthcare services to consumers in a seamless, patient-centric way. We are delighted to have Cogito on board, to support our plans and strengthen our capacity to execute our ambitious growth and expansion strategy”. Said Szymon Horaczuk, the founder and CEO of HomeDoctor.

We are excited to partner with Szymon and his team to support HomeDoctor’s product and market expansion plans. The Company’s offering meets patients’ needs and preferences for affordable and accessible healthcare services, conveniently delivered online and directly to their homes and is a game-changer in the healthcare industry”. Said Sylwester Janik, General Partner at Cogito.
