Stefano Patarnello is a theoretical physicist by background. Currently he is COO of a Generator Data Science Center at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli (FPUAG) IRCCS (one of the largest hospitals in Italy with prominent position in Europe for several healthcare domains) and COO of Gemelli Digital Medicine & Health (GDMH) a digital health company.

GENERATOR Data Science Center, active from 2020, leverages Real World Evidence and Machine Learning methods to support data-driven analysis in multiple clinical areas. The lab has more than 40 research initiatives running, including participation to Horizon European Consortia and other EU-funded programs.

With regards to industry focus, GDMH is engaged in several emerging areas of digital healthcare, including design and deployment of patient support and treatment companionship programs, generation of real world evidence in support of efficacy and personalization of treatments, development of predictive models for early diagnosis and severity score, patients clustering and phenotyping.

Within current team endeavor to enable new patterns for discovery and collaboration, Stefano’s focus areas in his roles across the value chain are: data integration and automation to design and run high performance architectures for healthcare analytics and data science; open innovation methods to establish new contractual frameworks for research/industry joint projects; user-oriented approaches that map into actionable methods and support to the design of new care models.
